dog parks and puppy dates!

Bailey had her first trip to the dog park last weekend, with Rhonda and Oscar. It went...interestingly. She was pretty overwhelmed and scared of all the big dogs running at her. She made me and Rhonda carry her a bit, then just followed really close beside us. She DID, however, listen really well and came when we called her. Not entirely sure it was because she wanted to come, or because she was scared, but we'll call it a success. She is pretty good one-on-one with other dogs, so I think it was just all too much at once for her. We went for a walk tonight with them, and she LOVED Oscar (she ran away from him at the park Sunday afternoon). And she was still ready to torture Rockey and play with Grandma for 3 hours after the hour-and-a-half long walk! Time to dig out the running shoes I guess, and start running with her.

Well, I was trying to upload new pics, but Blogger's photo uploader isn't working tonight, so they will have to wait!

booster day!

Just a quick update today, and no pics ready to go due to being busy with school. Bailey had a vet appointment for her boosters, but since she is still so little they only gave her two - her DHPP booster and her Rabies today. We go back next week for her Bordatella and Leptospirosis boosters. They figures it was better than risking a vaccine reaction, especially with her pills she is on. She had a little bit of a rash under her front legs from when she had her flea reaction last week but it's gone away, and the vet said her ears look perfect! She also had her nails clipped for the first time and is up to 13lbs! I questioned whether she should be on small-breed food or not, they said to just leave her on her food she's on now, since she'll be switching to adult food in a few months anyway. We'll put her on regular then, since the small-breed food has more calories and beagles get chubby really easy.

She seems to be doing okay with the needles, she's a bit sookier than usual, but is still pretty playful. She had a few too many treats during her visit today and just threw up all over the leather couch, so I think she's done running around for the evening. On the bright side, she picked the couch that's easy to wipe down!

Anyway, back to the books!

an overdue update, and some new pics!

Sorry for the delay, it's been a pretty busy couple of weeks. I was down with a bad flu for almost a week, and busy with school.

Anyway, Bailey continues to grow like a weed, as is expected. She is due for round 2 of needles, which she goes for this coming Wednesday. She also, unfortunately, has had another flare up of her flea allergy. Apparently the dosage they gave us for her flea treatment was too low, as she was just at the upper weight limit for the puppy dose of Advantage. I called her vet today, since her back was once again covered with itchy scabby yuckiness and didn't want her to have to wait until Wednesday. They refilled her antihistamines and gave us a larger dose of Advantage Multi (she just had the regular kind last time). She seems to be relaxing a little more this evening, and has been curled up beside me for the majority of it.

Another cute development is that she's recently started sleeping under the blankets, curled up against my chest (well, she tries to sleep ON my face/neck, but for obvious reasons that doesn't work out so well). It's been pretty cold overnight and in the mornings. Yesterday and today it didn't get above 5 degrees, and she dragged me inside this afternoon from a walk, shivering her cute little butt off. I tried to find her a little sweater today when I was at the mall, but everything was expensive and either way too big, or way too small.

Anyhow, without further adieu... photo time!
